The NHS is experiencing considerable challenges regarding the supply of aseptically prepared injectable medicines.

This communication from NPSG advises all NHS customers of commercial aseptic preparation services to review their local activity and practices.

It is essential that Chief Pharmacists and their teams ensure that the available services are used wisely to support as many NHS patients as possible across the country, and that adequate contingency planning is in place to ensure patient safety and continuity of care in the event of any service disruption.
